Summer is finally here which means one of our favorite Fall festivals is around the corner and you know what that means—that’s right, KAABOO Del Mar is coming back to Del Mar (San Diego), California the weekend of September 13^th-15^th, 2019. To prepare our readers for this festival, we have put together a list of our top 4 artists recommendations that members of the skate community would enjoy.

Snoop Dogg + Wu-Tang Clan

One of the most revolutionary hip-hop acts, Wu-Tang Clan helped prove rap to be an art form, establishing a hip-hop enterprise in the process whilst delivering their uncompromising, dark sound and hard-hitting, intelligent wordplay.

Calvin Broadus was born on October 20th 1971, and started rapping when he was eleven years old. Ten years after that he took the stage name Snoop Doggy Dogg to begin recording, and in doing so, changed the face of Hip-Hop forever.

We are super stoked for Snoop Dogg + Wu-Tang clan to take the stage together. With KAABOO having a bill of mostly alternative rock bands, watching two of hip hops biggest legends on stage will be a treat. You will not want to miss out on their legendary set.

Kings of Leon

Kings of Leon are a Southern rock group whose music leans more towards indie rock than to the mainstream sensibilities of Southern contemporaries such as 3 Doors Down or Saving Abel. Kings of Leon have enjoyed more commercial success in Europe than they have in America. The band’s albums still command a decent amount of critical acclaim to this day and, starting in 2008, respect from the Recording Academy in the form of Grammy nominations.

The group is comprised of members of the Followill family: three brothers (singer Caleb, bassist Jared, drummer Nathan) and a cousin (guitarist Matthew). The band formed in 2000 in Tennessee, putting out their first EP, Holy Roller Novocaine, three years later through RCA. 

With Caleb’s sandpaper-gritty vocals and the band’s swinging and upbeat rhythms, Kings of Leon is a must see. Do not miss out on the opportunity to witness this raw talent perform live at KAABOO Del Mar.

Sublime w/ Rome

Sublime with Rome is a musical collaboration between Eric Wilson and Bud Gaugh, formerly of the band Sublime, and singer and guitarist Rome Ramirez. The group chiefly performs songs by Sublime, which was fronted by Bradley Nowell until his death in 1996. The suffix “Rome” refers to the singer’s first name.

Ramirez began performing with Gaugh and Wilson in 2009, where they played under the name “Sublime”, until Nowell’s estate issued a legal challenge to the use of the trademarked name for a venture not including Nowell. As a result, they changed their name to “Sublime with Rome” in January 2010. The group set foot on their first tour in 2010 and released their debut album, Yours Truly, on July 12, 2011.

Cash Cash

Cash Cash is an electronic music group hailing from Roseland, New Jersey. The group currently consists of three DJs: brothers Jean Paul Makhlouf and Alex Makhlouf, and Samuel Frisch. They produce, record, mix and master all their music together as a trio. They are currently signed to Big Beat Records and Atlantic Records, a subsidiary of Warner Music Group worldwide. 

The group’s highest-charting song to date is “Take Me Home”, featuring vocals by Bebe Rexha. Since 2016, the group has released four full-length albums, a collection of EPs, singles, and provided official remixes for artists like Krewella, Capital Cities, Kelly Clarkson, Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, Showtek, and Icona Pop, along with producing and co-writing Krewella’s single “Live for the Night”.
