Artists to Look Out For
Lorde
Internationally recognized as one of the brightest up-and-coming young stars in the music industry, Lorde became famous after her smash hit Royals in 2013, and has since developed a successful career featuring several albums and singles.
Lorde recently performed at the Primavera set in Barcelona, and put on an unforgettable set featuring songs from her 2021 album Solar Power, as well as her older hits. This is a performance you won’t want to miss.
Arctic Monkeys
Residual grunge is exactly what you’ll get from the Arctic Monkeys, but with a modern twist. They don’t exactly fit any style or genre, and that is exactly why they are loved – they go against the boundaries of music. With one of their more infamous albums, Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not – well, that perfectly sums up their music.
The UK-style talent of Alex Turner and Jamie Cook has turned heads since their inception in 2002, and this live performance will be one of the highlights of their careers.
Nine Inch Nails
Perhaps one of the best live bands, Nine Inch Nails stays relevant and authentic. They just never give up, and they really are the epitome of techno grunge. Trent Renzor always puts on a show of epic proportions, and Nine Inch Nails will also be undertaking a tour of the UK and several other concerts, some of which are sold out.
Cigarettes After Sex
With sultry lyrics, Cigarettes After Sex redefined the Indie Genre. With modern classics like Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You Baby, the perfect seductive tune will hit you at this event. Their style has been described as incredibly surreal, ethereal, and dreamlike, with airy guitars and washed out, reverberated vocals.
Jeff Mills
Presenting an authentic DJ dance set featuring technical skills that earned him the nickname The Wizard in the 80s. His DJ sets are sure to get the crowds going, so don’t miss his performance on the 18th. Using 3 or 4 decks at a time and up to 70 different records an hour, you’ll be sweating and dancing your heart out.
Girl in Red
Often stylized as girl in red, this is an indie-pop performance piece by Norwegian musician, singer, and songwriter Marie Ulven Ringheim. Singing songs along the lines of Taylor Swift, she covers modern topics like mental health, inclusivity, romance, and the experience of not always fitting into the world. Girl in Red showcases what is best about the Primavera festival, a mix of true rave and dance music with some incredibly talented indie acts featuring some acoustic instrumentation.
Giveon
Giveon is a classic R&B/rap singer-songwriter who has collaborated with the likes of Drake and Justin Beiber. His live vocals have a magical way of getting the crowd to rise and fall in unison, and this performance will be likewise unforgettable.
King Krule
Archy Ivan Michael, better known by his stage name King Krule, is an English singer-songwriter that performs a mixture of “punk jazz” mixed with hip-hop. His music is gritty and unique, with trip-hop style vocal editing mixed with disorienting and dissonant guitar tracks.
Other Bands
It would be impossible to name all of the talent showcased at Primavera, but other featured bands include artists like:
- Clairo
- Darkside
- Mustafa
- Drain Gang
- Kim Gordon
- Mayhem
- James Blake
- Amyl and the Sniffers
There’s no shortage of talent to look out for coming to the stage at Primavera this year. Featuring an exciting and invigorating mixture of LA’s beach scene and modern electronica with laid-back Barcelona vibes, this will be a bohemian party for the ages. Be sure to get your tickets so you don’t miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
