5 Things to Look Forward to at Desert Hearts

If you’re looking for the wildest party of the year in Los Angeles, Desert Hearts 2023 has moved from its original location at Lake Perris from May 5-8 to The Torch open-air concert space at the L.A. Memorial Coliseum. The iconic venue will now host the event from May 6-7, with tickets priced at an extremely affordable $69 for one day and $119 for two days. It’s sure to be a weekend to remember with a lot to look forward to.

Since 2012, Desert Hearts has existed as a nomadic, desert camping event that led to the formation of a record label and a loving family of tens of thousands of fans. Desert Hearts is an iconic part of the West Coast music scene, and this year, it will be a fresh new experience for those attending. Let’s take a look at the top five things to look forward to at this year’s festival.

Top Five Attractions at Desert Heart

A Venue and Vibe Like No Other

Before we get to some of the legendary artists that will be featured, it’s important to take a moment to recognize just how unique the venue will be. Hosted in the Coliseum left over from the 1984 Olympics, complete with the Olympic Cauldron and the Torch statue, this massive event will be a sight to remember. Nestled in the heart of Los Angeles, you’ll get to take in sights, sounds, and history that you won’t find anywhere else.

The Olympic cauldron will be reignited in 2028 when LA hosts the Summer Olympics, but until then you can enjoy this huge open-air concert venue for a very low price at Desert Hearts. Desert Hearts is known for its intimate atmosphere, usually abiding by a unique “one stage, one vibe” policy where everyone congregates, dances, and listens together. This exemplifies the loving, artistic, and authentic nature of the event, and is the reason why those who attend it always come back for more.

Skream

Skream is one of the hottest dubstep artists in history, considered a major influence on the early development of the scene. Unsurprisingly, his screaming, wobbling, and plunging dubstep basslines are a crowd favorite and are sure to be one of the highlights of the event. He puts on an authentic show that you definitely won’t want to miss.

Mary Droppinz

Mary Droppinz is one of the hottest up-and-comers in the electronica scene, bringing a fresh new sound with her latest single, New York City, released this year. She’s played numerous festivals, has a fashion line about to drop, and has produced some excellent hip-hop, grime, and techno tracks. Her entrancing sound with multiple deep, lush layers of instruments always brings the crowd to its feet.

Gene Farris

Gene Farris is an old-school Chicago house legend who has produced some of the most enduring tracks in the genre. His label Farris Wheel is taking off, capturing the attention of fans all around the globe. For over three decades, Farris has been a major player in the house and EDM scene, so be sure to catch his performance this year at Desert Hearts.

Over 40 More Artists and Special Guests

While these three legendary artists are some of the top billers, there’s plenty more to catch at Desert Hearts. Artists like Dusky, Mikey Lion (one of the founders of the event), Derrick Carter, DJ Holographic, Catz ‘N Dogz, Atish, Wyatt Marshall, and lots more will also be playing extraordinary and memorable sets.

Desert Hearts is a 21+ event, and there’s plenty more to look forward to besides just what you read here. Be sure to grab your tickets soon, as they’re likely to sell out. You won’t want to miss this year’s unique LA Coliseum version of Desert Hearts!
