These kids deserve it, they kept leaving their trash everywhere to the point the city just got pissed off and dump-trucked dirt on the park. It's a good lesson the kids are gonna be taught, the city obviously has no intention of actually demolishing the park, it costed thousands of $$ to make and gonna cost more to take out. Just sign the petition to the satisfy the city and next time pick your own trash up and put it in the garbage.

At the park i grew up skating there would always be 20+ people there. 75% were there to blaze, drink, steal and be douchebags. Cops never gave a shit. We had to boot em out ourselves.

I live in California and to see this bullshit just irritates me Sheldon park is the shit and if I lived next to that park I would be out there everyday trying to make the park look and stay spiffy people with nothing would die to have a park like this

I'm signing because skateparks, no matter where they are, are integral parts of communities that are negatively influenced without a center that allows every member to be an individual. Whether it is a park in DC, Chicago, or this one in LA, any park (skate or otherwise) that was an community-city joint funded venture is one that needs to stay. Sheldon, specifically, is a park that was asked for over a period of years, and it is a park that has been vandalized, unfortunately, like many skateparks. Down the street from me, here in DC, a little girl spray painted a daisy on the quarter pipe, but no one has complained. There is a reason for this. No one complained, not because the graffiti is just a flower, or because it was done by a little girl. No one complained because they acknowledge the paint as a symbol of self discovery and love for the community. That is, fortunately, what is happening when vandals vandalize. It comes out of wanting to be heard and seen, no matter the outcome. Even if the vandalism is violent or extreme, it may come out of shame and silence. Vandalism is a product of a flower growing in the concrete, but not knowing how to express itself.
